Mailing categories are required so that the customer can receive only mass mailings he/she is interested in a way that's convenient for him/her.
For example, the customer can subscribe to the Promotions category, but unsubscribe from the News category.
A customer may receive e-mail mailings, but unsubscribe from SMS.
In Settings --> Mailing categories you can see the list of mailing categories.
When creating a new category, you should specify its parameters:
Name;
Code;
Description;
Type:
Visible: visible on the unsubscribe page;
Hidden: not visible on the unsubscribe page, customer cannot unsubscribe from it;
Status of e-mail/SMS/push mailing subscription by default:
Subscribed;
Unsubscribed.
Default subscription status affects the following:
When a new category is created, customers will be automatically subscribed or not subscribed to it;
A new customer will be automatically subscribed or not subscribed to an existing category.
Categories can be active and inactive. Inactive category cannot be specified when creating a new mailing.
Clicking on the category name takes you to the category editing form. You can change the properties of category or delete category.
