Mailing categories

PreviousConstants for templatesNextManaging views

Last updated 1 year ago

Mailing categories are required so that the customer can receive only he/she is interested in a way that's convenient for him/her.

  • For example, the customer can subscribe to the Promotions category, but unsubscribe from the News category.

  • A customer may receive e-mail mailings, but unsubscribe from SMS.

In Settings --> Mailing categories you can see the list of mailing categories.

When creating a new category, you should specify its parameters:

  • Name;

  • Code;

  • Description;

  • Type:

    • Visible: visible on the unsubscribe page;

    • Hidden: not visible on the unsubscribe page, customer cannot unsubscribe from it;

  • Status of e-mail/SMS/push mailing subscription by default:

    • Subscribed;

    • Unsubscribed.

Default subscription status affects the following:

  • When a new category is created, customers will be automatically subscribed or not subscribed to it;

  • A new customer will be automatically subscribed or not subscribed to an existing category.

The mailing category code is used when integrating with external systems. For example, to manage subscriptions via REST API.

Categories can be active and inactive. Inactive category cannot be specified when creating a new mailing.

Clicking on the category name takes you to the category editing form. You can change the properties of category or delete category.
