Promo code is a unique combination of letters and numbers that entitles the customer to a discount or gift when making purchase. Each promo code can be used only once and cannot be re-used.
Group of promo codes is a set of promo codes united by a common property. For example, promo codes of the same denomination.
Information about issued promo codes is saved to the customer's profile. This information can then be used in the segment builder.
You can switch to the Promo codes section by clicking the Promo codes link in the main menu. The main page of the section displays a list of groups of promo codes.
For each group of promo codes the following is displayed:
Name;
Total number of promo codes in the group;
Balance of active promo codes. For example, the group has 1000 promo codes, and 700 active ones. This means that 300 promo codes have already been sent to customers.
You can create a new group of promo codes by clicking Create new group.
The group of promo codes can be edited or deleted.
You can create a new group of promo codes by clicking the Create new group button in the Promo codes section.
For a new group, you should enter a name. You can immediately upload promo codes to the group.
The Platform does not generate promo codes. They must be generated in another system (for example, in a loyalty platform). The generated promo codes must be uploaded to the Platform. There are two ways to upload:
Via API.
Promo codes are uploaded into groups. To upload promo codes to an existing group, click Edit:
Copy the generated promo codes and paste them into the Upload promo codes field. Each promo code must be pasted in a separate line.
The Platform allows you to give out promo codes to customers via mass mailings and campaigns. In order for a customer to receive a promo code in a message, you should use the following macros:
{{client.promocode('<group_name>')}} For the initial distribution of promo code.
{{client.last_promocode('<group_name>')}} For re-issuing promo code, for example, if it is necessary to remind the customer in a message about the promo code that was issued to him/her earlier.
A mandatory parameter is specified in brackets: the name of the group of promo codes from which you want to take the promo code.
Important: The name of the group must be written in single quotes.
A unique promo code is sent in each mailing. If 1000 promo codes are sent in the mailing, the number of active promo codes in the group will decrease by 1000.
The Promo codes tab in the customer's profile displays information about all promo codes that were issued to the customer. For each promo code, you can see whether it was issued initially or repeatedly.
A promo code can only be reissued from the group of promo codes from which the customer has already received a promo code.
If a promo code is reissued for a customer in the mailing, but there hasn't been an initial issue of a promo code from that group yet, the customer will see an empty space in the message instead of the promo code.
You can use data about issued promo codes for filtering when building segments in the segment builder (for example, "Show customers who were issued a promo code from the ‘30% discount on school supplies’ group").
The segment builder uses the Promo codes group to work with promo code data. The following filters are available in the group:
Quantity of issued promo codes;
Promo codes issued from the group.
